What does Era Nocturna mean anyway?

The name has several different meanings depending on the linguistic perspective you are reading it from. In the Spanish-based languages it means “she was nocturnal,” from what I have been told. However, when I named the project I was bastardizing Latin and the original intended meaning was “the dark age.” Whichever way you translate it, it applies.

Do you really write, perform, and record everything yourself?

Occasionally I have some goblins at my disposal to help out but, yes, I do everything myself. Sorry.

Who/What are your songs about?

Generally they are about emotions that I was feeling at the time of the composition. Most of the time those feelings aren’t very positive so I use the music to get things out of me rather than allowing them to fester inside of my head. Sometimes the songs are directed at specific people but they’re not getting mentioned by name. I’d like to think that I’m obvious enough in my messages that the applicable parties will get the message loud and clear.

Why don’t you have other members? / Why don’t you perform live?

Because I am too much of a control freak to work with other people full-time. Live shows are not out of the realm of possibility but I have yet to find the need to really undertake that. Performing can be a draining endeavor.

Why can’t I find your music on LimeWire? / Why can’t I download your music?

Because doing that is stealing and I can’t make a living when you steal my music? Please support the artists you like by purchasing their music. Not just mine but anyone else out there as well who isn’t backed by a label. We need to survive too. Thanks.

Can you sign a copy of my CD?

Yes, I can. Please e-mail me (dm@NOSPAMeranocturna.net) and I will provide you with an address to send the disc jacket to. The reason I don’t post my address publicly is that I do not care to have my address available to the public. No one likes being stalked and no one likes a stalker. It’s not flattering, it’s just creepy.

If I am interested/like your sound then we can work something out. No, I don’t typically charge upfront for this. Who is Era?

No one. Many people that write to me call me “Era” and I find that amusing. The project’s name is Era Nocturna, the project’s member is me (Dae).

Who do I contact so that I can interview Dae?

Me. Just write to me at dae@NOSPAMeranocturna.net and state your wishes. Due to several unfortunate experiences where interviews intended for publication did not see print for one reason or another I do ask that you furnish proof that you work for an established publication. I don’t care if it’s a fanzine or whatever, so long as it exists and has been in operation for a while that is fine and I’d be happy to answer your questions.

Can I use your music in my movie/fashion show/event-thing?

My material is available for non-exclusive licensing for select projects. Contact me at the afore mentioned e-mail address to discuss this in detail. As I believe in the sharing of art in all forms I’m always willing to work with people even if it’s on a trade-for-services basis.
